Text Box: Fast Facts-Auto Recycling Automotive recycling currently ranks among the largest industries in the United States, with more than $3.7-billion in annual sales. The automotive recycling industry currently employs more than 40,000 people at more than 7,000 facilities throughout the United States. The automotive recycling industry recycles more than 11-million motor vehicles annually nationwide.  The automotive recycling effort is estimated to be responsible for the saving of more than 5-million barrels of oil each year that would have otherwise been needed to manufacture new automotive repair and replacement parts and accessories. The automotive recycling industry also reduces the levels of pollution in our environment.   According to the U.S. Environmental  Protection Agency, when a mill uses recycled scrap metal in place of ore, much of which comes from auto recycling efforts, air pollution potential is reduced by 86% and water pollution potential is lowered by some 76%. Fred Baida started this company with a dirt lot and a carnival stand as an office. Today, we have 4 facilities, 22 acres, and parts from over 3000 vehicles.
